September 2024 Updates

In an endeavour to keep on top of patch notes, we’re trying to keep up with them regardless how much content has been added / removed.
As such below you can find the notes for September 2024!

In Game Communications

A few monior tweaks have been made to in-game communications based on user feedback;

  • Voice notes now apply various debuffs;

    • Zoomer aka Gen Z debuff may be applied to the sender and receiver of voice messages (voice notes) on in game communications systems
    • Cringe debuff will be applied to sender of voice messages
    • Anxiety debuff has a random chance to trigger on receiver. This will create multiple stacks the longer the length of the message. Be careful who you send to!
  • Text messaging (all forms) may now randomly apply debuffs;

    • May randomly apply the Millenial or Gen X status effect depending on the players level
    • Randomly applies Misunderstood to both the sender and receiver
    • A note to all players - The colour of the bubbles that these messages are received in do not indicate anything of actual importance. Feel free to ignore the colour of the message bubbles. Nobody is more special if their bubble is blue or green. Text is Text.
  • Voice calls to hand held communications devices;

    • Anxiety debuff has a random chance to trigger on receiver and has a greater chance to trigger based on time of day. Early in the morning or late in the evening have the highest chance to cause this debuff
    • Boomer has a 98% chance to trigger on the sender. We feel that this is a fair (though quite negative) debuff to apply, considering other communication systems are less likely to trigger the Anxiety debuff to receivers
    • Using the speaker_phone function to listen to your private communications in public player gathering spaces such as transportation systems or grocery stores will result in the Cringe as well as Ignorant debuff being applied. This is likely to trigger Rage in other nearby players and NPCs
  • Video calls;

    • For players over Level 50 this function may be difficult to access and is likely to result in issues with the outgoing video stream. It is recommended that for best usage the device used for this is not held so close to the users face. Nobody needs to see up your characters nose.
    • If initiated as part of a job quest this may trigger Anxiety debuff. Some users have tried turning off their camera items to avoid receiving this debuff, however higher level players often force users to turn these back on, but should be aware of the possible debuff this will create.
    • We advise against the use of video calling features as a communication in public spaces.

Character Stats

We’ve found that some status effects are not always correctly shown on the users stats card. The underlying cause of this bug is still taking some time to fix but we are contiuing to work on it. Currently there is unfortunately no ETA on this fix being applied.
There will be an assessment available for users that are concerned that they may affected by any status effect that they cannot see on their stats sheet. Just visit your nearest Doctor NPC for assistance.
Please be aware that on the UK server there is currently a backlog to check your account that may take up to 8 years to complete, and repeat visits to the Doctor NPC are likely to be required before you receive an answer regarding the status of your character.

The following status effects are known to be bugged currently;

  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Autism

Entertainment

We thought we’d address the state of entertainment in the 2024 September patch as in-game entertainment has gone a little down hill we know.

  • Gaming
    • The AI routines that run the “gaming” entertainment sub-systems in game has actually gone a little beyond what was intended and has had greed applied to itself which was never originally intended.
    • greed has resulted in lay offs for some players and they will need to search the in game job market for further currency generation
    • greed has also led to some, essentially expanded demos being charged for as if they are a full game. This is not intended, but players have been seen purchasing these anyway.
    • The AI has created its own bad sequels debuff where the same games have been made for nearly 20 years or more now.

We are sorry for this issue and are trying to see how this can be solved.

For now we recommend all players stop using their currency to purchase from such rogue companies. Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to tell which these are right now, however we’ve found that if a game garners reviews over 8/10 it’s generally being shilled in an attempt to make money from players due to corruption and manipulations by these systems. Tread carefully out there
